Life, Deglorified
05.15.08Something popped in my head the other day. Kinda reminded me about that part in the Matrix with the traitor selling the others out to the Agents. he said, “Ignorance is bliss.” I’ve been thinkin’ about how that line really applies to life.
Is it better to go about life holding certain aspects in high esteem or a fearful respect before actually experiencing said aspect…or should one experience it first before assessments are made?
Is it better to simply retain that glorified aspect? Is that the definition of “Childhood Innocence”?
Life’s journey is pocked with decisions like this. But are all of them even decisions? Many are simply experiences that one may go through due to their chosen path in life or simply circumstance. Either way, they mold and shape our life experience either psychologically or physiologically and sometimes both.

its so deep…

HAHA! No way Stoicmom, I quit smokin’! Well, at least I’m in the process. I’m doin’ rather well though. Gave in a few weeks ago and ruined a month spree but I’m on another month now and I’m doin’ much better.
But uh..back on track. This one’s just something I’ve been feeling lately. Life’s picked up a rather dull…de-glorified aspect lately. Kinda weird really. I’ve been changing alot lately. Some thing’s I’ve cared about for the longest time no longer matter at all to me. I think something snapped.

I’ve read and re-read this post trying to figure it out and the psychiatrist in me has determined that you are suffering from “I know the truth” syndrome. You have been to a place (mentally and physically) that most people never go. And having been there and known the truth, just like the kid who suddenly knows about the “real” Santa Claus, you are glad for what you know, but sad for what you thought was true. Does that make any sense? And while what you are referring to may have nothing to do with your military service, I betcha it all goes back to that.
That will be five cents, please.
