It was a sad sad day in history when I decided to drive my ole hoopty to the PX yesterday. Ok, so she has a blown head gasket and I shouldn’t really be driving it, but it wasn’t that far and I knew she wouldn’t overheat in the short drive to get there. But alas…as it turns out the head gasket was the least of my worries.

As I was returning from the crappy pizza joint there in the food court I hop in the driver seat, cram on the clutch, and crank her up….she idles for less than a second before sputtering out. Not good.

I crank her over a total of about 20 somethin’ times before finally giving up on her. She refused to be resuscitated and I refuse to put up with the shenanigans anymore.

So at about 1935 Hours on 23 July 2008 she was declared DOS. *sniff She wil be sorrely missed and it’s going to hurt me emotionally when I go and rip out all the components that I’m keeping before calling the junk yard.

So I’ve been regularly visiting the Grand Am Owners Club forums to get more information on my vehicle and what kicks me is that all these guys on there are saying my problems are minimal at best and could be fixed with a few hundred bucks and a few hours of time.

This is like rubbing salt in the wound for me because I really want to keep the car, but I don’t have the tools, nor the know-how to fix her.

I WANT HER TO LIIIIVE!!
